Shirlee Smith, a native of San Diego, California, has been involved in the art community since the early 1970s when she began studying graphic design and fiber art. In the 1990s Shirlee was introduced to desktop publishing and digital photography. Fascinated with the digital process she became "hooked" on photography and the process of creating digital art.
After relocating to Maui in 2004, Shirlee concentrated on taking her photography skills to a professional level and, in July of 2005, launched Images by Shirlee; a photography business focusing on architectural photography for realtors. Since then Images by Shirlee has grown to include virtual tours, commercial, portrait and art photography, as well as using her graphic design skills to
create business cards and marketing materials for clients.
When not busy with photo shoots or graphic design jobs Shirlee enjoys exploring the island with her husband, Dave, to photograph everthing that makes this island so wonderful. A friend once ask Shirlee if she saw a picture in everything she looked at and, to her surprise, she responded "yes." Shirlee says, "I was surprised at my response because I never really thought about how I looked at things. There is so much to see in everything
around us, and so much beauty on Maui."
